If you missed the vice presidential debate last night, then you missed a very intense and intriguing debate! Unlike the presidential debate between Governor Romney and President Barack Obama last week, Vice President Joe Biden and Republican Paul Ryan spiced up the night by throwing digs at each other and buckling down on policies.
The Debate took place at Centre College in Danville, KY, and was moderated by ABC reporter Martha Raddatz (a much better choice than last week’s moderator!). The debate was very structured which allowed viewers to get a clear understanding of each parties viewpoints on a variety of topics ranging from foreign policy to taxes, jobs and abortion.
Vice President Biden definitely entered the debate last night as the aggressor, as he tried to pull voters back in after President Obama’s laid-back performance last week. Biden was quick with responses and facts on health care and taxes, and constantly smirked in disagreement at Republican Paul Ryan’s responses. He even went as far as to call Paul Ryan’s statements “a bunch of malarkey”!
But that did not stop Republican Paul Ryan from holding his tongue, who eventually became aggravated at Vice President Joe Biden constant interruptions.
“I know you’re under a lot of duress to make up for lost ground, but I think people would be better served if we don’t interrupt each other,” said Ryan to Vice President Biden.
Joe Biden definitely came into the debate ready to conquer, with many believing he won the debate and pulled the voters back in to support the Democratic Party.
“Joe Biden won,” said Matt Dowd, a Republican strategist and ABC News consultant. “He stopped the bleeding.”
It will be interesting to see how President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney continue the debate Tuesday on October 16th.
