The 40th Annual American Music Awards were held last night at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Usually music awards shows are a playground for the fashion obsessed, I must say, last night was a little..ehhh..boring? Anywho, here’s my round-up of last night’s standouts!
Ladies in Lace
- Taylor Swift in a Zuhair Murad nude lace mini dress. This was actually my FAVORITE look of the night! With matching nude sandals and a sultry smokey eye, Taylor is my choice for BEST DRESSED! She is completely ON POINT!
- Country Songstress Carrie Underwood wore a gorgeous beaded plum lace bodice Abed Mahfouz gown
- Haute Mama Heidi Klum stuns in a champagne gold lace Alexandre Vauthier number.
Sunny Hunnies
- Nicki Minaj chose an electric yellow Monique Lhuillier gown. Quite a subdued look for Nicki, but we approve!
- The ever elegant Kerry Washington also donned bright yellow. the Scandal star shone bright in a Stella McCartney frock & Christian Louboutin heels.
Madame Metallic
- Brandy opted for a flapper inspired look in a bronze & black Ekaterina Kukhareva dress. The shoe choice is completely wrong. Brandy has long gorgeous gams but between the odd uneven hemline of the dress and the ankle boots, the line of her leg is cut in 3 different places.
- True Blood’s Elisha Cuthbert shines in this gorgeous gold Georges Chakra dress! The simple hair and minimal accessories are a perfect match for this amazing gown!
- Pink shows her softer side in a bronze Catherine Deane gown. Of course, in true Pink style, she toughened up the dress witha leather bodice with amazing cut out details!
Prints Please!
- Kelly Rowland looks simply fabulous in Naeem Khan! Strappy sandals and a simple cuff are a perfect match for this look!
- Jordin Sparks in Etro. I’m not a fan of this look at all. I love sheer details and I’m all in favor of a Deep-V, but somehow these 2 elements don’t work here. It’s a little messy; I’m going to blame the sleeves.
- Gwen Stefani looks super cool in Balmain! I love her fashion choices!
And then there was Christina Aguilera….
XTina chose a purple ombre Pamella Roland gown. This ensemble just looks cheap. The helmet hair, matchy matchy make-up, platforms and bling just seems very Vegas dress-up…and not the good Vegas
